How to Store PVA Glue Properly

PVA glue is widely used for bonding paper, cardboard and wood. Proper storage helps preserve its quality and extend its usable life.

What is PVA glue?

PVA glue, also called polyvinyl acetate adhesive, is a flexible synthetic polymer supplied as a milky liquid. It is available in one-component and two-component formulations.

PVA glue can be applied manually with a brush or automatically with rollers and coating machines.

How to store PVA glue correctly

1. Keep the container sealed

Close the container immediately after each use to prevent air, dust and impurities from entering.

2. Avoid heat and direct sunlight

Store in a cool, ventilated place away from sunlight, heat sources and sudden temperature changes. Follow the product TDS/SDS.

3. Prevent freezing

Freezing may affect stability and bonding performance. Protect the adhesive during transport and storage.

4. Check and mix before use

Check colour, odour, viscosity and uniformity. If permitted by the product instructions, mix thoroughly before use. Stop using the product if severe coagulation, separation or abnormal odour appears.

5. Use older batches first

Record the opening date and use earlier batches first. Do not mix new and old adhesive without technical confirmation.

6. Keep tools clean

Clean coating machines, rollers, brushes and containers promptly to prevent dried glue or foreign matter from contaminating the adhesive.

• Do not mix different products unless compatibility is confirmed.
• Use clean tools and prevent water or dust from entering.
• Use opened containers within the period specified by the product instructions.
• Test on actual materials and equipment before mass production.
• Follow the current TDS/SDS for storage temperature and shelf life.
